Bovis Lend Lease contracted Shapiro & Duncan for the plumbing and mechanical portion of the Woodmont East Office Building.  This retail and office complex is located in the heart of the downtown Bethesda restaurant district.  The street level storefronts house two (2) major restaurants and a potential multi-plex movie theatre.  The four (4) floors of office space are intended for high end clients.

Being in Bethesda with limited parking and limited space for new construction, Woodmont East includes an elevated open air parking lot for the end users.  The movie theatre was below street level and in addition to the unique seating, a very complex sewage ejection system had to be installed to remove effluent to the public sewer system.  The design team had to consider the restaurant clientele along with the professional tenants in regard to Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning.  They decided to use McQuay water source heat pumps with emergency electric heat and Evapco Cooling Towers.. 

Airway Sheetmetal of Virginia performed as expected and complemented Shapiro & Duncan’s exceptional quality workmanship. The ductwork systems included special and unique kitchen exhaust systems for the two restaurants.  An advanced Building Automation System was installed by Capron.  Kelco Insulation came through with quality plumbing and mechanical insulation.  

Through the efforts of our field personnel Woodmont East finished on schedule and within budget.
