This Lincoln Memorial project entailed an upgrading of the
heating system with a tie in to the Mall’s central
heating plant, replacement of air conditioning and ventilating
equipment, renovation to existing bathrooms, and substantial
site drainage work. All this work was constructed in close
concert with Hess Construction Company, the general contractor,
and the National Park Service to ensure that the historic
nature of this monument was not compromised. All work had
to be carefully coordinated to accommodate the masses of
people who daily came to pay tribute to this national treasure.
