REISS SCIENCE BUILDING/
WHITE-GRAVENOR BUILDING
Washington, DC
This project
was a phased mechanical renovation of two occupied
laboratory research and classroom buildings. Shapiro & Duncan
was responsible for replacement of building service air
handling
units (AHUs), heating and cooling systems, glycol systems,
plate heat exchangers, steam revisions, fan coil units,
unit
ventilators, ductwork, DDC controls, acid waste systems,
and laboratory liquid/gas revision.
The project
was challenging because the buildings remained fully occupied,
with research work and classes in progress during the entire
renovation project. Extreme precaution was required to prevent
the interruption of laboratory experimentation and research.
